I'm Craving Punch

Not much has been going on here. I'm just anxiously awaiting this weekend. At some point on Saturday I have to meet my photographer in Austin to pick up my canvas portrait. At 10am, Nick's cousin, Robin, is getting married at Chapel Dulcinea. Then Sarah Beth and I will head to Shiner for the bachelorette party. I'm soooo ready for it. It'll be so much fun to hang out with all the girls for one last fling before the ring. I know that Trashcan Punch is on the menu and this makes me happy. Alicea makes the BEST TC punch ever. We've had it on many occasions and for some reason, people act really silly after they have a few glasses.

So many stories to tell because of that ol TC punch. Grandma Pohler had a very small glass a few years ago at the July 4th party. She loved it because she couldn't feel her arthritis! Who could forget Ross that same night? Huh puh wuh! I'm sure this Saturday night he will get a few late night calls with all of us screaming this famous phrase at him. His poor white shirt had to be ruined by the bright red drink. And then there was Craig catching on fire. Who would have known that a burning Koozie would stick to your Jesus sandal? He found out the hard way when his entire leg almost caught fire. Thank goodness Abby was there to put it out by pooring her beer on it...although she was very hesitant about wasting that beer on him! Then there's me...low domino and TC punch are NOT a good combination. And you thought I was going to tell on myself! We'll keep those stories unwritten, for my children might read this blog someday.

Wharton will never be the same

I'm trying to get Nick to do a guest blog, but I'm not sure if he'll ever have time to, so I'll do some of the updating. I don't know everything that went on there and I really don't wanna know. I do know that it was all good, clean fun.

Saturday Dad, Jaace, Ryan, Russell, Robbie, and Robert Pavelka all loaded up to head to Wharton. They all met up at our house and headed out of town at about 1:15. Yes, they looked like they were the President's bodyguards-all big guys packed into a big black burban. Before they even set foot in Mom's car, they all had a beer. I'm sure that they had several on the way there too. They seem to think the open container law doesn't pertain to them!

They arrive at their hotel, The Country Hearth Inn. Dad realizes that he left his wallet in his truck. The lady won't accept his out-of-town check so he calls Mom for the credit card number. (He had to save his cash for the dice games!) While he's on the phone the lady sees the name on the check and says, "Oh, your Chumchal, you stay here alot." Dad says, "Lady, don't say that, I'm on the phone with my wife." There is laughter in the background and she realizes it is Curtis Chumchal from Wharton.

Nick heads to the hotel to lead them to Country Crafts and Collectibles so that they can get measured for their tuxedos. When Nick arrives all of the guys are standing around the car drinking beer. This doesn't surprise me one bit, but it might have caught Nick offguard. Especially since there was a police officer parked right across the street. Russell jumps in Nick's truck with his beer. The cop pulls out behind Nick and swerves around him. I'd imagine that Nick was nervous. So, they get to CCC and all heck breaks loose. Poor Tricia will probably never think of me the same. Dad calls Mom again so that he can find out what size of shoes and pants Jaace wears. Everyone is laughing in the background as well as Tricia. Supposedly they were trying on the top hat that she had in the store. I can only imagine all the heck they are giving her.

After they were done with that, they wanted Nick to take them to a local bar. Well, unlike Shiner, there isn't a beer joint on every corner so Nick took him to the one that he knew of. Evidently, the locals weren't to keen on having foreigners in their territory. Eventually the people ended up liking all the guys and carried on with them for a while. Funny thing was, Curtis Chumchal, the guy that stays at Country Hearth alot was there. They all got a kick out of meeting him. They left the joint and headed to kick off the bachelor party.

Like typical Shinerites, the crew were the first ones at the party and the last ones to leave. Nick had a wonderful time until he excused himself to vomit at around midnight. The guys said he didn't return after that. Jake also had a great time. He ended up crashing on the ground, out of his chair at about the say time. Luke ended up driving them to our trailer across the pasture at about 1:30am. The next day, Nick was fine. You never would have known that he drank the entire day before.

Thank goodness you only get married once in your life! I hope that I feel as good as Nick does next Sunday!

It's Crunch Time

We've only got 29 days until it all becomes official. I'm finally getting to go home this weekend to tie up a few lose ends. I'd like a relaxing weekend, but it doesn't look like that'll be happening anytime soon.

Here's what's happening:

Yesterday I ordered our "fancy" embossed napkins. Who knew that there were so many typestyles and textures of napkins. Glad that's behind me, thanks to my new dear friend Leigh at Miss Priss Originals. She's the friend that got me into her Bunco group...due to spending so much at her shop. I think I'm going to market with her in Atlanta in July. EXCITING! (It just depends if my hubby gives me the thumbs up.)

We (Mom and I) plan on ordering napkins, plates, paper, and any other extra things this weekend. I'd also like to meet with the caterer and the soloist. We'll see what all gets done. We are also going to have our dresses sized so they can be altered at some point tomorrow or Sunday. We'd also like to finish painting all of the antique doors we are using at the reception.

Nick and I are going to Country Crafts and Collectibles after school to get him measured for his tux. I'm gonna take some pics of him since he really hasn't been featured on the blog much. Tomorrow is his bachelor party so all the Shiner guys are coming in to be measured also. I'm kinda sad that I have to miss this experience, but maybe I can talk Tricia, owner of CCC, into snapping a few pics for me. Nick's SUPER excited about his party. Sounds like everybody in Wharton county will be there. Evidently, stag parties are the talk of the town and everyone can come and go as they please.

Brad and Gina are having a couple's diaper dinner Saturday evening...it makes me sad because Nick will miss it and Brad will miss his bach party, but there just aren't any free weekends anymore so things have to overlap.

FYI: I got a new perfume last week...Hot Couture by Givenchy and it's wonderful! I can't stop sniffing myself! :)

Addicted

I've become addicted to www.tripadvisor.com There are hundreds of reviews to read about our hotel. Some of them make me super excited and some make me a little nervous. No matter what, I know that we are going to have a wonderful time on our honeymoon. I can't wait to fall off the face of the earth for a week!

I've been searching on the web for the Farmers Almanac to see what the weather will be like on our wedding day, but you had to pay for it and I knew that you could find them for free at the local feed stores. Nick's Mom didn't find the Farmers Almanac, but we got Grier's Almanac. It says that it will be windy on March 29th. I can handle windy, just don't want the rainy. It also says that it will rain on the 27th and doesn't say anything about the 28th. I'm going to keep searching for the farmers to compare the two.

Wedding Shoes

Like most brides, I wanted to find some really comfy shoes to wear to the wedding. I had a pair of slippers, but somehow I made a hole in where the big toe is on one of them while I was taking pics with Jill. Those are out! This weekend I went browsing around Dillards and found these...

Definitely not the typical wedding shoe, but they were cute and on sale...it was the only excuse I could come up with to buy them. So, these are currently the shoes I will wear. They'll be so cute with jeans! AND I bet the photographer will get some cute pictures of them.

This was the only picture I could find of them...got it from ebay, so I'm not sure mine are exactly like this, but close enough.

Holy Crap....31 Days!

It's absolutely unbelievable that we only have 31 days until we are married! The time has really flown by. I haven't gotten nervous about anything yet, but I think it's coming. Here's the latest on what I've been doing/thinking about doing for the big day...
1) Sending out invitations to those who haven't got theirs yet.
2) Making rehearsal dinner invitations...wanna send those out by Friday.
3) Deciding where I will get my dress altered. I think I'll have an appointment this weekend...I'm leaving that up to Mom.
4) Paying for the hall, photographer, and meeting with the caterer.
5) Checking on hotel reservations for guests
6) Deciding on what we will do when we leave the wedding. Limo? Hotel?
7) Meeting with the florist.
8) Figure out songs for wedding ceremony, Father/Daughter dance, etc.
9) Get the marriage license.

I'm sure there are other things, but I left my list at home.

Sicko Limo

We're in search of a limo service and it hasn't been fun. There isn't anything in our area so the prices are outrageous. We called a guy in El Campo and he quoted me $350. This was insanely cheap so it made me very leary. I really don't care what the limo looks, as long as it's halfway decent and gets us there. All I want is to go to St. Lucia! He didn't have a website so I couldn't see a picture of it. I told him that I'd come to El Campo to check it out. Well, he called me today because he was in Wharton with it. I met him in the little shopping strip. The outside wasn't bad looking, but the inside was gross. It was dirty and smelled gross. The seatbelts were brown. Ugh! Then he told me that he misquoted me and it should be $545. That's still not a bad price, but definitely not for this limo. I'm about to give up on it and we'll just have to drive ourselves to Houston.
