Ahhhhhh!!

I don't have much time for small talk, but the hall is complete and rehearsal is only hours away. It's still not sinking in that this is all for us. I'm happy to report that after 13 hours of decorating yesterday and several hours today...bridezilla has never appeared. We haven't had any arguments or break downs and it's been wonderful. After the past couple days, I know why people elope. It's been so much fun and exciting. Can't wait to see and celebrate with everyone tomorrow.

Signing off for the last time as Jenny Chumchal!

HERE WE COME MARRIED LIFE AND ST. LUCIA!

What does a girl do 4 days before her wedding?

She goes to work and decides that it's not the place she should be and takes 1/2 a day off! Tells her kiddos goodbye and heads to the tanning bed for 20 minutes. (Like it's done any good since I've only done it a total of 4 times!) Then she goes to get a pedicure and nails done for 2 hours! (Heavenly!) Runs to pick up 10 tuxedos. Goes to Wal-Mart to buy buttons and stick pins. Goes to HEB to buy 3 more bottles of wine and a 25 lb. bag of birdseed. Currently she is printing out programs that aren't satisfying her.

My list is a page long, but I'm getting them crossed off. Here are the crossed off items:
Call Shimek's--the soloists
Call Sandals Resort
Iron clothes and pack
Get wine and champagne
Ringbearer gift
Pick up tuxedos
Call organist
Finish doors
Get birdseed, buttons, pins, and disposable cameras
Figure out makeup

Last night I went to Sephora and spent $150 in makeup that I didn't need. The lady did such a good job so I figured that I could maybe do it Saturday if I had exactly what she had. All the products will be used after the wedding so that's how I justified the spending. (Sorry Nick!) If there are any makeup experts out there that aren't busy Saturday morning and wanna help, call me!

Tomorrow morning I'm going to tan one last time and then head to Shiner. We plan on decorating the dining hall tomorrow night. Maybe we can get in the main hall if bingo gets out at a decent time.

It's down to the wire. Keep me in your prayers....

About to beat down a cashier...

Hobby Lobby and I have a love/hate relationship. I really really love to shop there! They have cute stuff and awesome sales. According to Jamie, if you cut the 40% off coupons from the newspaper you can use as many of them as you want. However, it could have been Michael's she was talking about. Hobby Lobby had these candles that we wanted to use, but they never go on sale. We decided to get a bunch of coupons and get the 40% off rather than spend the full price. Monday I went to the Hobby Lobby in Victoria and the cashier told me that I could only use one with her, but I could go to another cashier to use others. Instead, I asked the nice girl behind me if she would just purchase a set of the candles. She agreed and we were all happy.

Today, we were in Katy for Robert's baptism. Mom, Jill, and I were planning on going to HL to finish up all the candle buying. I also had to get one of my bridal portraits framed. The lady in the framing department was a real you-know-what. Why do people work at places where they have to deal with people if they are going to be so rude? Maybe she was having a bad day, but has she heard about leaving it at the door? We came up with a plan to check out, run to Garden Ridge, and come back for the picture. Here's how it all went down....

First of all, we had a VERY limited amount of time to get everything done.

I get in line to exchange out a picture frame. All the lines are backed up, as they always are. The lady was taking forever to do the exchange so I decided to just buy the frame and exchange the other one another day. I give her two coupons and two boxes of candles. She rudely states, "If you read the fine print it says one coupon per customer, per day." I tell her that's fine, some places accept them, but it was understood. So, I ask the lady behind me to purchase a set for us. All she was buying was a spool of ribbon...she didn't mind. The cashier says (rudely), "there's always ways around it." I ignored her and rushed to the back of the store to get Jill (waiting on picture to be framed.) Mom buys a set and waits up front with the other girl who is buying a set. Jill and I rush up to the front to purchase the framed picture and it was her turn to buy a set of candles. We got into another line because it was much shorter. The cashier turns around, looks at me, says "ma'am" and starts to shake her finger at me and tell me I can't do it. At this point, everyone in line is looking at us. Before she can say a word, I say (very rudely)"she hasn't bought any today and don't worry we aren't doing anything illegal!" I was livid. Hobby Lobby has 50% off sales all the time...they aren't losing any money with our little purchases. It would have been much easier for her to just let us use all the coupons because we were successful despite her hateful self.

As we walked to the car, Mom tells us how the cashier was telling her that it wasn't right for that girl to buy us the candles and that she could get in trouble. I hope the Hobby Lobby police didn't come after her when we left. She was really irritating and it didn't make matters any better that we were in a huge rush. I really could have reached over and puller her hair or something.

She needed to chill out this Easter season!

It is what it is, RIGHT??

As most of you have noticed, I've changed our blog name to "it is what it is." Since I've met Nick, this is his attitude about everything..his token phrase. It absolutely drives me nuts when he uses his phrase on me when I want some other answer. You know, the answer I already have in my head and he should justify my rightness, but instead he blurts out "it is what it is and we can't do anything about it." I cringe as I type it, but deep down it's an awesome outlook on life.
I decided that the name would fit our blog nicely for the rest of it's existance...whether it dies in 10 days after our wedding or if it stays up to witness our family grow, as we turn gray. It is what it is.

So...it is what it is...that's the new name of our blog.

Today I get a lovely phone call from my lovely future brother-in-law from his lovely girlfriend Sarah Beth's phone. I thought it was her and answered it all happy because we've been playing phone tag alot recently, but it was Jake so I was lil disappointed. :) He proceeds to tell me not to get upset, worried, or stressed. Sarah Beth has something to tell me, but she doesn't want to. First thing that goes through my head is that some trip came up for school and she has to go on it so she won't be at the wedding. Bummer! Nah, he tells me that she ordered a size 10 bridesmaid dress and the outside tag says 10, but the tag on the inside of the dress says 6. It's really a six and she can't zip it all the way up. She's already made calls to David's Bridal and they are trying to locate a bigger dress for her. I really didn't stress about it, and I'm not worried about it at all. I'm sure they can let the dress out a little and she'll be able to squeeze into it. When I tell Nick about the little mishap, he asks if I'm going to be at the wedding, if the priest will be at the wedding, and if the witnesses will be there? Yep, all accounted for and all will be present. Ok then, we're still getting married and nothing to worry about. You see why he's my rock? He makes everything ok for me because IT IS WHAT IT IS!

Now...last night I had a little dream that Dad refused to wear his tux and walked up in his work clothes....plaid shirt and khakis! I really didn't want him to walk down the aisle in it, but we did and it was all fine. I can honestly say that the only thing I am stressing about is the tuxedos. There are several guys from out of town that will not try their tuxedos on until Friday night and have not gotten measured by Tricia at Country Crafts...they are call in orders. It's a little nerve-racking, but again, we'll still get married even if someone has high-waters on.

Weather

Here's the weather prediction for March 29th. It could be a nice day! Fingers crossed! Tomorrow they will have it updated as it will be part of the 10-day forecast.

Not very motivated

I don't wanna do anything today! I know that I need to, but my tummy hurts and I'm just not motivated. Even though I feel like crap, I'm very glad for feeling this way. I'm really not complaining...all I'm saying is, there is a God...he answers prayers! Now all the last prayer he needs to answer is that we will have nice, springy weather in 10 days!

Yesterday I got lots of nit-picky things done. I finally mailed out the rehearsal invitations (sorry!), scanned and printed lots of old pictures, finished toss bouquets, made favor bags, reorganized the wedding room, ordered more flowers, ordered more material, and a few other things I can't remember. Oh, Jill and I practiced Soulja Boy for the wedding. We're trying to get Mom to learn it, but it doesn't look like that will be happening.

How on Earth?

How on Earth do we only have 11 days until we get married? I CANNOT believe it's here. Yesterday I went to Victoria from Wharton and then to Shiner. I had to pick up a few wedding things...imagine that. I had to stop in El Campo to pick up the groomsmen gifts for Nick. Then on to Victoria to order my extensions. I did some shopping for honeymoon clothes and then homeward bound. Dawn Machacek came over to practice on Mom's hair. Jill did her makeup and we made her put on her dress. She looked absolutely stunning! Her dress is perfect...a total Barb dress. She looked like she was 30 years old. I cannot wait til the wedding to see our entire family all prettied up.

Nick and I got our honeymoon camera Saturday. We ended up getting an Olympus Stylus that is waterproof up to 33 feet. I can't wait to use it and see how the pics really turn out. I ended up talking myself into this camera so that we can take it tubing with us at the Frio, scuba-diving in St. Lucia, and Schlitterbahn to name a few. Jaace and I are hoping the weather clears up this week so we can test it out in our pool.

I'm trying to get better at updating since I'm in Shiner and our internet service is much better here. I have lots of pictures I want to upload, but my card reader is currently MIA.

Who's my Nicky-Poo?

This post was inspired by my future cousin, Tracy. You can see the post I'm talking about at www.littleperks.blogspot.com

Here's all about my Nicholas, for all of you who don't know him like I do. I didn't know if I should start with the good or not-so-good first, so I'll mix it up.

He could melt butter with his words. He always speaks the nicest, most encouraging words even when we are at each other's throats. He can write poems and love letters that bring tears to your eyes. Speaking of talking, he could talk a deaf man's ear off. Every morning and evening he kisses me and tells me how beautiful I am. It never gets old. He squeaks when he walks. I'm not kidding, the guy never buys anything but clothes and shoes new, and he probably didn't do that pre-Jenny. He purchased his first tractor in the 4th grade from his Gramps for $500 and paid for his truck with cash and has ZERO debt! Back to talking, he can talk about tractors and cows for days on end. It makes his week if I ride with him on the tractor to feed cows...you should see how he lights up. He really does think that I hung the moon. He buys range cubes for me to feed to the cows because that's what I loved to do when I was little. Everytime I get home from shopping, he asks me how much each thing cost, drives me crazy. (What's he gonna do with me and our future kids?) When he gets the chance to shop with me, he holds all of my things and waits in line for me while I continue looking. He opens car doors for me almost every time. He treats me to surprise pedicures by leaving me a note with cash in my car. He hates tomatoes and loves my eyes and smile. He is the SLOOOOWEST person when it comes to getting ready. He's also late to everything...I'm hoping he'll make it to the wedding on time, but it's doubtful.

He truly is the greatest man alive (in my books). I'm his princess and he's definitely my knight in shining armor. I can't imagine my life without him in it.

At my bachelorette party, Jamie and Jill got Nick to answer several questions and then I had to answer them. I don't remember much from that night, but I do remember everyone was in awe when I answered almost every question exactly as Nick did. It's almost scary how well we know each other.

Marriage License

We're going to the Wharton County Courthouse Annex after school to get our marriage license. I've got my camera packed to take pictures of this milestone. It makes it all "ALMOST" official. This is all so surreal! If it's all a dream, I don't ever wanna wake up.

Finalizing Marriage Paperwork

Jenny:

Your wedding day is quickly approaching. Congratulations!!

In order to complete your marriage packet/paperwork, I need to know the names of your official witnesses. I had recorded Allen & Carolyn Migl. Will there be others or is that it? Please let me know. I also need a "Post Marriage Mailing Address," please. Do you have one? Do you know where you'll be living after the wedding? Or, should I just use one of the addresses that you and Nicholas gave me as your addresses? If so, which one should I use?

This information will ultimately get everything wrapped up. Then, all will be in place for March 29...as long as you remember to bring your civil marriage license to the rehearsal!

Blessings,
Father Bob

It's approaching very quickly! We are so excited about this joyous day.

Allen and Carolyn Migl, Marilyn Goerig, and Charles George will all be witnesses. We're headed to pick up the marriage license today!

Also, our new address will be:
Nicholas and Jenny Popp
419 Blanche
Wharton, TX 77488

Thanks so much!
Jenny

Thanks for the quick response. This now means that as far as the Church is concerned everything is ready to go!!!! Good luck with any other final preps.

Blessings,
Father Bob

Somedays it's all worth it...

During our calendar time we were talking about how I was going to be gone for "lots of days." Several students have been begging me to not be gone for so long. However, I've been yearning and getting through each day knowing that Spring Break was on it's way. I've been at my wits end for the past couple of weeks with teaching. I've got so much on my mind with the wedding and the kids have really been crazy. We all think it's because they didn't get enough time off at Christmas. They are just as burned out as all of us. After we were breaking to our tables, Preston, one of my VERY favorite little guys, came up to me and gave me a big hug. His eyes were a little teary and said, "I bet Mr. Popp thinks that you are so beautiful. You are the best teacher in the whole world." He left me breathless. It was a moment I needed as even my good little kids have been acting out.
He'd be your favorite too! Just look how cute he is AND he's such a gentleman. The girls aren't stupid either, they all are in love with him already. He's already got 12 girlfriends and can name them all. He's got really cool parents...his dad cuts Nick's hair and his Mom does mine (reminds me that I need to make an appointment SOON!) He's got a handsome twin brother and a super cute little brother that I'm hoping to have in a few years. You just gotta love this kid!

17 Days

And I'm officially starting to panic. Maybe I've said that before, but it's really true now. I know that all the major details are taken care of so it will be perfect, but it's the small ones that we keep putting off.

Monday night I lay awake in bed, wide-eyed and bushy tailed from 2:00am-4:30am. At least that was the last time I looked at my phone. I kept going over several things that I needed to get done in my head. Finally, I got out of bed and went to make a list. I thought that would put me back to sleep, but I still laid there another hour. When 6:30 came, I was hating life.

Last night I was going through more things and making more lists when I realized that I don't have a garter yet! How in the world can this be? I've been looking for garters online since we got engaged, but never found the perfect one. Not that it's a big deal to have "the perfect" garter, but there are lots of ugly ones out there. More uglies than pretties.

Tomorrow Mom is coming up and we are going shopping in Sugar Land to take care of these petty details. The main reason for going to SL is because it will be Jamie's 31st birthday. Unfortunately, she has Bunco tomorrow night and any woman who plays Bunco, knows that you can't miss it! She tried to get me to sub with her group, but that would make 3 Bunco nights in a month...that might burn me out. Plus, I'd get home really late.

Keep your fingers crossed that we finish off everything tomorrow! Sorry that I don't have any bachelorette party pictures up, I'm waiting for some lovely bridesmaids to send me some the pics. I knew better than to take my camera.

Self-Inflicted Sickness

Gone are my days of partying. Why, you ask? Well, I had my bachelorette party on Saturday and realized that I'm getting old and can't hang. Partying all night definitely got the best of me. Sunday was TERRIBLE! I woke up feeling great. Then a little bit of a headache started coming on. I figured I could handle it...I just didn't want to get a stomachache. Unfortunately, the stomachache did come. When I stood up I wanted to vomit, but couldn't. The only time I felt good was when I was asleep. Therefore I slept til who knows when, took a shower, took a nap, pryed myself outta bed, went to the alteration lady's house, packed up, and headed to Wharton. It was the worst and longest drive of my life.

My phone died on the trip back and my car charger is broken, so that made the trip even longer. Nick was at Luke's house so I went there to tell him I was going to the house. I couldn't hang around for the birthday party. I went to the house and went right to bed. It was about 7pm. Nick got home around 8 and I finally felt like I could eat something around 8:30. We went to KFC to get a chicken pot pie-the closest thing to noodle soup I could think of. I ate it and went back to bed. Today I'm back to normal. Thank God! No more self-inflicted sickness for me...well, that is, until Jamie and Jill's bachelorette parties.

Tomorrow I will tell about the bachelorette party and maybe post a few G-rated pictures.

Valentine's Day 2006 Pics

Remember the wonderful 2006 Valentine's Day that Nick and I had at Canyon Lake? Well, here are some of the pictures that we took that evening. It was an absolutely gorgeous sunset. I can't wait to go back there one day...one day when we have a speed boat to pull a giant tube with or for skiing.

Can you imagine riding on a boat during a sunset like this?

Ok, back to reality! I don't forsee a boat in our possession at any point in the future. Realistically, we wouldn't get our money's worth out of it, but it would be nice!

I'm Craving Punch

Not much has been going on here. I'm just anxiously awaiting this weekend. At some point on Saturday I have to meet my photographer in Austin to pick up my canvas portrait. At 10am, Nick's cousin, Robin, is getting married at Chapel Dulcinea. Then Sarah Beth and I will head to Shiner for the bachelorette party. I'm soooo ready for it. It'll be so much fun to hang out with all the girls for one last fling before the ring. I know that Trashcan Punch is on the menu and this makes me happy. Alicea makes the BEST TC punch ever. We've had it on many occasions and for some reason, people act really silly after they have a few glasses.

So many stories to tell because of that ol TC punch. Grandma Pohler had a very small glass a few years ago at the July 4th party. She loved it because she couldn't feel her arthritis! Who could forget Ross that same night? Huh puh wuh! I'm sure this Saturday night he will get a few late night calls with all of us screaming this famous phrase at him. His poor white shirt had to be ruined by the bright red drink. And then there was Craig catching on fire. Who would have known that a burning Koozie would stick to your Jesus sandal? He found out the hard way when his entire leg almost caught fire. Thank goodness Abby was there to put it out by pooring her beer on it...although she was very hesitant about wasting that beer on him! Then there's me...low domino and TC punch are NOT a good combination. And you thought I was going to tell on myself! We'll keep those stories unwritten, for my children might read this blog someday.

Wharton will never be the same

I'm trying to get Nick to do a guest blog, but I'm not sure if he'll ever have time to, so I'll do some of the updating. I don't know everything that went on there and I really don't wanna know. I do know that it was all good, clean fun.

Saturday Dad, Jaace, Ryan, Russell, Robbie, and Robert Pavelka all loaded up to head to Wharton. They all met up at our house and headed out of town at about 1:15. Yes, they looked like they were the President's bodyguards-all big guys packed into a big black burban. Before they even set foot in Mom's car, they all had a beer. I'm sure that they had several on the way there too. They seem to think the open container law doesn't pertain to them!

They arrive at their hotel, The Country Hearth Inn. Dad realizes that he left his wallet in his truck. The lady won't accept his out-of-town check so he calls Mom for the credit card number. (He had to save his cash for the dice games!) While he's on the phone the lady sees the name on the check and says, "Oh, your Chumchal, you stay here alot." Dad says, "Lady, don't say that, I'm on the phone with my wife." There is laughter in the background and she realizes it is Curtis Chumchal from Wharton.

Nick heads to the hotel to lead them to Country Crafts and Collectibles so that they can get measured for their tuxedos. When Nick arrives all of the guys are standing around the car drinking beer. This doesn't surprise me one bit, but it might have caught Nick offguard. Especially since there was a police officer parked right across the street. Russell jumps in Nick's truck with his beer. The cop pulls out behind Nick and swerves around him. I'd imagine that Nick was nervous. So, they get to CCC and all heck breaks loose. Poor Tricia will probably never think of me the same. Dad calls Mom again so that he can find out what size of shoes and pants Jaace wears. Everyone is laughing in the background as well as Tricia. Supposedly they were trying on the top hat that she had in the store. I can only imagine all the heck they are giving her.

After they were done with that, they wanted Nick to take them to a local bar. Well, unlike Shiner, there isn't a beer joint on every corner so Nick took him to the one that he knew of. Evidently, the locals weren't to keen on having foreigners in their territory. Eventually the people ended up liking all the guys and carried on with them for a while. Funny thing was, Curtis Chumchal, the guy that stays at Country Hearth alot was there. They all got a kick out of meeting him. They left the joint and headed to kick off the bachelor party.

Like typical Shinerites, the crew were the first ones at the party and the last ones to leave. Nick had a wonderful time until he excused himself to vomit at around midnight. The guys said he didn't return after that. Jake also had a great time. He ended up crashing on the ground, out of his chair at about the say time. Luke ended up driving them to our trailer across the pasture at about 1:30am. The next day, Nick was fine. You never would have known that he drank the entire day before.

Thank goodness you only get married once in your life! I hope that I feel as good as Nick does next Sunday!
